WHAT DATA IS NEEDED

This privacy policy sets out how 52 Steps, known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide, uses and protects the information that you give when providing your email in order to receive blog updates or when using this website.

52 Steps is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. If you are asked you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy policy.

Unless otherwise agreed with you, 52 Steps will only collect basic personal data about you (i.e. an email address – however this may include your full name, as part of the email address), this minimal level of information is not considered ‘sensitive personal data’.

WHY DATA IS NEEDED

52 Steps needs to know basic personal data (i.e. your email address) in order to keep you up-to-date with latest blog posts. Unnecessary personal data will not be collected from you.

You have the opportunity to unsubscribe to email communications from 52 Steps at any time, by sending your request in an email to 52steps@gmx.co.uk.

WHAT IS DONE WITH THE DATA

All the personal data held about you will be processed in the United Kingdom.  Your email address is filed electronically, in a password-protected email provider on a Personal Laptop which is password-protected and known only to the author behind 52 Steps.

Selected third parties will have access to your personal data where there is a service they provide to us or there is a legal obligation for us to provide them with this.  Please be aware, specifically, these third party firms are:

  • Wix Website / Blog provider, of; Wix.com, 40 Namal Tel Aviv St., Tel Aviv 6350671, Israel.

  • GMX Email Service, of; 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH, Karlsruhe Branch Office, Brauerst. 48, 76135, Karlsruhe, Germany.

  •  Microsoft Corporation, of; One Microsoft Way, Redmond, Washington, 98052, USA.

Wix, GMX and Microsoft have safeguards to protect your personal data, and it shall be processed to at least the same standards as set out by the General Data Protection Regulations.

You can obtain a copy of the safeguards and any other data protection documentation by writing to the above addresses or by visiting the third party websites themselves, and searching for the term ‘Privacy Policy’.

All reasonable steps are taken to ensure that your personal data is processed securely.

Website hosts use log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

The 52 Steps Privacy Policy does not apply to processing by other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.

Third-parties often use technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons that are used in their advertisements and links, which are sent directly to users' browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalise the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.

Note that 52 Steps has no access to or control over cookies that are used by third-parties.

HOW LONG THE DATA IS KEPT

Your personal data will be kept for an indefinite period of time, so that you are provided with the blog update services requested, via email. Your information will be kept with us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time by emailing 52steps@gmx.co.uk and requesting that the email address and copies of any emails are deleted.

WHAT ARE YOUR DATA-RELATED RIGHTS?

Under data protection legislation, you have several rights regarding the use of your personal data, as follows:

- If at any point you wish to either confirm whether your personal data is being processed and/or access the data 52 Steps holds on you (i.e. your email address), you can request to see this information, and this request will be responded to within a month.

- You are entitled to have data deleted if it is no longer needed or there is no longer a legitimate reason for the processing, or if the data in question has otherwise unlawfully been processed. You may also request deletion of your personal data if it was only being processed as a result of you consenting to this and you now withdraw your consent.

-You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data.
