Step 16 - Choose a hairspray that doesn't dry your hair out.
I've found two nice-to-use hairsprays! Sadly neither are plastic-free, but they do last ages...
They are both spray-pump action bottles (not aerosols), they have minimal scent and you don't end up tasting unpleasant chemicals when you use them.
Both are purchased online, from Amazon.
Both are pricey, the 'Suncoat' hairspray is £12 and the 'Honeybee Gardens' hairspay (in a slightly bigger bottle, at 250 ml) has recently jumped up to £17, (which is why I then went looking for an alternative and found the Suncoat one).
The bottles seem to last a long time (maybe as they aren't as easily-overused as aerosols) and I feel they are worth paying extra for, as they don't contain alcohol (so they don't dry out your hair or scalp) and they don't coat your hair in silicone. As I've been trying to avoid harsh alcohols and silicones in my shampoos/conditioners, I thought I'd try using a hairspray that treats my hair kindly too.
So how do they work? They use sugar to hold the hair in place, which sounds like a recipe for a sticky hair disaster, but they have a similar feel and hold to a regular hairspray - without the unpleasant scent and chemical-cloud!
