52Eco#20 Swap your plastic sellotape.

Sellotape is (obviously) made of plastic and very useful it is too.

Unfortunately when plastic sellotape is stuck to paper or card (e.g in a kiddy craft project or when wrapping a present) it make recycling the paper and card tricky or impossible.

There is an alternative! This 24mm brown, papery, self-adhesive tape is sold by Peace with The Wild. We now use it as standard around the house, for crafting and for present wrapping and for taping up parcels to post.

&Keep sells beautiful 'washi' paper tape - Halloween, Christmas, patterned, colour-block plain. Love them.

The old roll of plastic sellotape is now relegated to being on stand-by for fixing torn book pages.

UPDATE! Sellotape has now produced a plastic free version - woohoo! So for those jobs which really do need transparent tape (such as fixing toddler-ripped book pages) there is a green solution...

One last thing - if you receive a gift secured with actual plastic sellotape, be sure to peel the plastic tape off before recycling the paper wrapping.
