In the Autumn, I store away my most Summery clothes in lidded clip-lock boxes in the loft. As Spring warms up I retrieve my Summer clothes and pack-away my Winter wardrobe instead.
When I unpack the stored clothes, it feel like I have a whole new wardrobe of outfits! This really helps to curb the wasteful modern-day compulsion to shop for more, more , more. So, doing the seasonal storage saves money as well as saving the planet. Try it!
*Update* If you are still in need of an occasional clothes shopping 'fix' then look no further than the Oxfam Online Shop .
They sell BRAND NEW ITEMS at a fraction of the price, all saved from heading to landfill- once you select a category (e.g. jeans) you can filter your search to get BNWT (brand new with tags) or NWT (new without tags) if you are not a seasoned charity shop shopper. Obviously there are pre-loved (used) items for sale too.
Delivery is via Royal Mail (2nd class) and costs £3.95 regardless of how many items are in you order. Returns are free. All profits go towards fighting poverty.
This is a thoughtful way to shop whilst we are learning to un-learn our shopping habits.
